Overall Purpose of Job


We have a requirement for a Chartered Building Surveyor with drive, to organise, improve efficiency and exceed our client’s expectations. Ideally having between 3 and 5 years' post APC experience, you'll be confident shaping challenging projects from initial client briefing through to project design, preparation and site supervision.  We can only continue to thrive as long as we maintain a high calibre and highly motivated team.


Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities


In joining the Building Division, you will enjoy a high quality and diverse range of instructions including a blue-chip client base. The focus of the position is likely to concentrate on professional matters and Project Management. Your duties will include:


  • Contract administration
  • Building surveys
  • Dilapidations
  • Party wall matters
  • Planned maintenance schedules
  • Reinstatement-cost assessments


You will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of business development and have the commercial awareness to assist the team to hit their financial objectives.


This list is not exhaustive. You may be asked to complete additional tasks deemed reasonable within your role remit, as directed by your Manager.


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience


You will be dealing primarily with high class commercial property.


The Candidate is expected to be fully conversant with working in a multi-disciplinary Chartered Surveying environment, shall be conversant with the Southwest market and have excellent technical skills and commercial acumen. Key attributes will include:

The Role involves servicing existing and established clients (both internal and external) and the candidate will be required to demonstrate their desire and ability to develop new clients.


The team has a proven track record of delivering and the Candidate will be expected to develop the potential of the existing team members.


You will be required to show initiative and contribute to the team, helping to run a business-within-a-business. We would like you to come to the interview with some ideas of your approach to this and how you could help to develop the team in Bristol. This should have regard to client focus, business development and the management & development of others.
