Overall Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking an Industrial Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of analysis, insight and thought leadership across the Industrial sector.

The Innovation and Insight team provide high quality analysis and advice on the UK property market and its drivers. Our market analysis and innovative topic pieces explore where change is occurring, helping us to inform our clients, raise Avison Young’s profile and drive industry debate.

Working under minimal supervision, with line management responsibility, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a program of thought leadership, insight and analysis which will position Avison Young as expert commentators on all aspects of the industrial, logistics and distribution sector. 

This position will leverage your interpersonal and technical skillsets along with your real estate expertise and knowledge to deliver data-driven market insights.

You will be responsible for all aspects of data and analysis of the sector across the UK. This will include but is not limited to the roll out, delivery and maintenance of AVANT and its integration throughout the business, as well as the thought leadership agenda across the sector in the UK via publications and presentations and delivering market research, analysis and trends reporting at local and national level.

The role will require regular interaction with clients through pitches and delivery of work as well as business stakeholders. The individual will also be required to work with multiple stakeholders, internal and external for the delivery of projects.

The role will sit within Innovation and Insight but will work closely with other teams across the business, including relevant Agency & Investment teams. You will need to have a good understanding of our business and build relationships across key teams and clients globally.

The role will include people management and process management responsibilities, including working with colleagues in other teams for mutual deadlines.

Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Working with relevant stakeholders, the individual will be responsible for building the roadmap for development and integration of AVANT across the sector in the UK; The individual is also responsible for client pursuits as well market commentary analysis and thought leadership agenda. They will also have responsibility for overseeing relevant data management activities and integrity within the UK.


·        Responsible for analysing and delivering insight and analysis on the trends impacting clients’ business and their real estate, focusing on the offices market and its key drivers  

·        Working closely with the Head of Insight, key stakeholders and other sector and business line specialists, develop and produce a programme of market analysis and thought leadership outputs that supports the wider business and its aims, at a local, national and global scale

·        Working with relevant teams, develop an innate understanding and expert use of our proprietary digital data analytics tools for the benefit of our clients

·        Develop a suite of industrial and logistics sector specific outputs including commentary, analytics dashboards, pitch/proposal materials and presentation suites

·        Identify and comment on key trends in a timely manner that contribute to the wider Insight agenda that encourage collaboration across a number of sectors

·        Oversee and drive analysis of related and appropriate managed data

·        Work to align data gathering, process and outputs at a global level to create one cohesive voice

·        Undertake strategic business development, consultancy and support new business opportunities through contribution to pitches, work-winning opportunities and delivery of client work through AVANT

·        Working closely with the Leadership team and key business stakeholders to develop and produce a programme of market analysis and thought leadership outputs that supports the wider business and its aims, at a local, national and global scale

·        Present at conferences, sit on panels, chair discussions, write articles, provide quotes in industry publications and generally contribute to raising the profile in the industry of Avison Young as a forward-thinking and innovative business

·        Actively strive to be industry ‘go-to’ and a key spokesperson for the business

·        Pursue a programme of continued self-development through the use of selected reading, seminars and participation in continuing education; encourage junior members of your team to do the same.





Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience

This role will require someone who has strong leadership skills, is genuinely innovative, data-focused, confident, and adaptable. The successful candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred in a real estate, finance, economics, business or related field
  • 5+ years of commercial real estate or consulting experience preferred, but other relevant professional experience considered
  • Proven ability to conceive, lead and deliver innovative insight projects that provide practical insight into the functioning of real estate markets and the strategies that can be used to operate effectively within those markets
  • Proven ability to present using different digital mediums to a range of sizes and types of internal and external audiences
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to engage and communicate with colleagues and clients and produce complex deliverables under tight deadlines in partnership with an interdisciplinary team
  • Highly motivated and energetic individual with the ability to be self-directed and work with minimal supervision
  • Adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced and quickly changing workplace and market environment, with various and evolving client and work priorities.
