Overall Purpose of Job


In Building Consultancy, we have a long and successful history of working closely with owners and occupiers, helping them with surveying, managing building project costs, sustainability issues and building services. We apply the knowledge and insights gained from working on some of the UK’s highest profile - and most complex - construction projects to every client instruction. That expertise is extensive, meaning we have specialists in niche sectors as well as major real estate types. We guide clients through the regulations, technical issues and financial considerations during building and construction projects, helping them to reach their unique objectives.


Currently, there is an opportunity to join the team at Avison Young as a Building Surveyor in different regions and contribute to this extensive knowledge base and client first approach. As a Building Surveyor, you will be fully conversant will all technical aspects of the role and confident working in a multi-disciplinary Chartered Surveying environment. You will be confident shaping challenging projects from initial client briefing through to project design, preparation and site supervision. 


The role involves servicing existing and established clients (both internal and external) and the candidate will be required to demonstrate their desire and ability to develop new clients.


Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities


In joining the Building Consultancy team, you will enjoy a high quality and diverse range of instructions including a blue-chip client base. The focus of the position is likely to concentrate on professional matters and Project Management. Your duties will include:


  • Contract administration
  • Building surveys
  • Dilapidations
  • Party wall matters
  • Planned maintenance schedules
  • Reinstatement-cost assessments


You will be dealing primarily with high class commercial property.

The Candidate is expected to be qualified, fully conversant with working in a multi-disciplinary Chartered Surveying environment and have excellent technical skills and commercial acumen. Key attributes will include:
