As a graduate surveyor, you’ll join us on a journey to become a professionally qualified surveyor with membership of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
You will be allocated a dedicated supervisor and counsellor to assist you during your training as well as tailored support from our APC training provider.
What you will be doing
You will be working in a fast paced and rapidly evolving industry to provide a dedicated and high level of service to Telecoms clients and to ensure Avison Young sustains and enhances its’ reputation for the quality of its’ expert strategic advice. You will act as a case holder within the Telecoms rating team reporting to a Director.
Main duties, responsibilities and accountabilities
With training and under guidance the main aspects of the role include:
- Day to day case load management
- Appraising masts and other telecoms properties for business rates purposes
- Mitigate clients’ business rates liability by drafting and submitting ‘Checks’ and ‘Challenges’ as part of the CCA (Check, Challenge, Appeal) appeal system for Business Rates
- Monitoring and responding to deadlines in the ‘Check Challenge Appeal’ process
- Engaging with and where possible negotiating with the VOA
- Managing and keeping track of site information, appraisals, and deadlines
The telecoms department is multi-disciplinary and there will also be opportunities for the individual to engage with colleagues to gain knowledge and experience in the other areas.
Who are we looking for?
- Graduate looking to start their RICS qualification or already working towards this as a clear objective.
- Flexible and fast learning approach, confident and able to work unsupervised.
- Ability to juggle caseloads and client demands.
- A team player who is also able to lead with humility
- An ability to challenge for the better
- A strong drive for results, with an unwavering focus on the end game
- The desire to adapt to anything, and demonstrate agility when things don’t go to plan
